Waitakere City WEA
The Federation of Workers Educational Associations. Te Whetereihana o Nga Kaimahi Akoranga o Aotearoa. Kia ora! Welcome! Talofa Lava!
Who are we?
We are a community based organisation that aims to provide high quality, accessible and affordable adult and community education within Waitakere City. We are situated in a house in the centre of Henderson within walking distance of the railway station and main bus stops. We share it with the Waitakere Adult Literacy Centre with whom we have a close working relationship. We also work cooperatively with the community houses, other adult and community education providers and social service organisations. As well as running courses we offer advice and information about adult and community education and through networking are involved in other community projects.
Our programme is divided into the following areas:
- English for new migrants
- Te Reo Maori
- Driver education, including learner licence
- Health, well-being and safety
- Personal Development
- Community Development
- Social & Political Issues

What does it cost?
The average cost of a course is $2 per hour though some training workshops cost a little more. We are able to keep fees low due to the support of a number of the schools receiving adult and community education funding and a contract with the Waitakere City Council.
Childminding Service
We offer a childminding service for most daytime courses. We do not charge set fees but a koha is welcome.
