The Federation of WEAs
The Federation of WEAs is a national organisation that facilitates support amongst Workers' Educational Associations in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our main constitutional aim is:
"to support the self-governing and independently constituted WEAs which share the common principal objective of the advancement, encouragement, promotion and provision of adult and community education for a just and equitable society in accordance with Te Tiriti o Waitangi / The Treaty of Waitangi".
Each WEA is an independently constituted incorporated society, working in the adult and community education sector. The Federation acts on behalf of its members to be a collective voice on national issues; to enable WEA people to meet to address our collective needs for support, resourcing, challenge and accountability; and to link with national and international organisations;
The FWEA Book Discussion Scheme is part of our Federation.
We are a member of the International Federation of WEAs and endorse the IFWEA Charter.
If you would like more information about the Federation please contact the FWEA manager.
To find out more about individual WEAs you can contact their coordinators to find out what community education initiatives and activities are happening in your area.
